About this event
*This course is for current WMSC Members or anyone who is a member of the Senior College Network. The American Revolution-and Then What? As we celebrate the 250th anniversayr of the Decaration of Independence, this course will offer a chance to review the origins and events of the Revolution and consider its many consequences, from the creation of a unified nation through the Constitution to such larger political and social changes in the early national period as a democratic polity and a consumer economy. Note that this course will cover some materials from two earlier Senior College courses: The American Revolution and America's Founding Documents. It will update those materials and extend the discussion of the consequencs of the Revolution through the first few decades after the Constituion. Some reading will be in a provided text: Gordon S. Wood, editor; The Rising Glory of America, 1760-1820. In addition, participants will need to be able to access other readings online.
