About this event

Description

The River Center is proud to have some of the best American Red Cross lifeguard instructors Arkansas has to offer. Prospective guards will learn everything from simple assists to providing care for head neck & spinal injuries as well as CPR/AED and first aid training.

  • Participants are required to complete a prerequisite swim test. Swimmers must pass this test to be eligible to take the course. *Please schedule a time with aquatics management team to so that you may take the prerequisite test in advance.


  • A refund will not be given if the participant does not pass this test, but you may come back to another class, at no additional cost, once this test is successfully completed.


  • There is an online portion of the course that should be completed before the first in-person session begins. Course instructors will contact participants before the first scheduled in-person session with information on how to access and complete this work.


  • Students should wear comfortable, appropriate and professional swim attire. We advise one-piece bathing suits or swim trunks. A whistle is also advisable.


  • A 30–45-minute lunch break will be taken on Saturday. Additional small breaks will take place throughout the in-person course sessions.


  • In water skills will be practiced on day one. The second day will focus on incorporating CPR related skills. The final day will consist of review & testing. Tests include skills evaluations as well as a written exam.


  • Participants will know before they leave on the final day if they have passed the course.
