BASIC COLOR THEORY WORKSHOP /Kimia AnsariTuesday, June 16th - Wednesday, June 17thfrom 1:30 - 4:30 PM2 Days
Class Fee: $80
Basic color theory explores how colors work, how they relate to one another, and how artists use them to create harmony, contrast, and mood. We will create color wheels (in any paint medium you use) which will help to understand how to mix and combine them. We will create two painted color wheels to learn how primary colors mix to form secondary and tertiary colors. A basic color wheel includes six colors created from primary and secondary mixtures, while a full color wheel includes twelve colors for a more complete spectrum. We will explore the key concepts of color theory; primary, secondary, and tertiary colors; warm and cool color temperature; complementary and analogous color schemes; and the basic principles of hue, value, and saturation. The last class we will explore a simple still life using the principles learned on color theory. Students may use pastel, acrylic or watercolor.
