Class Fee: $165

Learn how to use your sewing machine, including how to insert a zipper. Each project is designed to help students build confidence and experience with different techniques, fabrics, and tools. Students will practice straight stitching and begin with projects such as a lined zipper pouch and a lined tote bag. $20 supply fee due at the first class.

You will need an operating sewing machine that turns on, has the plug, a foot, and runs. Look on YouTube for a tutorial video before coming for class. I recommend the Janome basic beginner sewing machines.
Supplies: Fabric scissors (Fiskars), Thread (in dark charcoal grey, light grey, white (I prefer Gutterman and Mettler), Seam Ripper, Pins, and Bobbins to match your machine.

REFUND POLICY: To receive a refund, students must submit their request at least 2 weeks before the first class. No refunds or transfers are guaranteed after this time. To withdraw from a class, you are required to email ChastainArts@AtlantaGA.gov and include your name, the class name, and your reason for withdrawal. The option to accept an account credit for the class withdrawal is preferred. If a withdrawal/refund is requested after 2 weeks prior to or after the class has begun, a $30 administration fee will be deducted and only an account credit will be processed to be used for future class registrations, clay purchases, and future purchases in our gift shop & gallery. If a class is running at minimum enrollment, we cannot process refunds or credits within 1 week of the class starting. If you register for a class after the session has begun, only an account credit will be processed if a withdrawal is requested. Anyone registered for a figure class with a model will be required to pay the model fee on the first day of class with cash or check to the instructor. Even if you request a withdrawal after the first day of class, you will be required to pay the model fee calculated based on enrollment on the first-class meeting. The Chastain Arts Center is not responsible for classes missed due to student absences and the student is not eligible to receive a refund or credit for any missed classes due to a student absence. Please discuss any unavoidable absences with your instructor
