50. Birding the North Country Trail (FT-4) 6:45 am – 11:30 am WDNR Conservation Biologist Ryan Brady guides you along the North Country Trail south of Ashland in search of woodland songbirds, spring wildflowers, and scenic vistas. We’ll hike a narrow, hilly section of the North Country Trail to the Juniper Rock Overlook and Marengo River bridge. Intrepid hikers can continue farther on their own to the Swedish Settlement—the farmstead ruins of a very tough family. If time allows, we’ll also bird by foot on adjacent forest roads in search of warblers, flycatchers, and other forest birds.
