Grades: K-5th. Be introduced to the fundamentals of chess through engaging lessons, guided practice, and friendly competition. Learn rules, tactics, and strategies while developing focus, patience, and good sportsmanship. Between classical chess boards and digital tools, this class accommodates a range of skill levels - from beginners learning how the pieces move to more experienced players refining their openings and endgames. Week 1: Introduction and Openings - rules, setup, and general opening principles

Week 2: Check, Checkmate, and Stalemate - how games end

Week 3: Tactics I - pins, forks, and skewers

Week 4: Endgame Basics - key checkmates and pawn promotion

Week 5: Strategy & Game Play - planning, trading, and time management

Week 6: Tournament Week - Swiss-style mini tournament and review
