During this historical tour you will experience the best of community education, as we explore several key areas of the Courthouse, including the commissioners' room, the Registry of Deeds, the archive room, and the elegant second-floor courtroom. We will review historical documents that illustrate the county's early development from the 1600s to the 19th century. For instance, we will view Volume 1 of the deed books, which contains a transaction dated March 15, 1647—just 11 years after York County was established as part of the province of Maine, which at that time was a British colony and part of Massachusetts.
