---Instructor: Keely Kirk--- Join me for an exhilarating advanced class that invites you to immerse yourself in the art of improvisation and sketch writing through a unique choose-your-own-adventure model. Whether you choose to hone your skills exclusively as a sketch writer, dive into the dynamic world of improvisation as an actor, or engage in both pursuits, this class provides the perfect environment for your creative journey. Participate in thoughtfully crafted in-class exercises that utilize improvised scenes as a springboard for brainstorming and ideation. These activities will not only foster your creativity but also help you to articulate your ideas more effectively, regardless of whether you are a seasoned writer or someone who hasn’t written extensively before. You’ll learn actionable strategies to overcome any writing anxieties and gain the confidence to put your thoughts into words.In addition to developing your individual skills, the course will emphasize the importance of collaboration. You will cultivate a deep understanding of group dynamics, allowing you to effectively engage with fellow students during scene work and create a supportive atmosphere where everyone’s contributions are valued. This collaborative energy will enhance your ability to perform in an ensemble setting, making your scenes richer and more engaging. As part of the curriculum, you will have the chance to showcase your hard work and creativity in a student performance at the end of the course. This is not just an opportunity to demonstrate your newfound skills but also a chance to celebrate your growth and connect with an audience. Completion of the previous intensive class or permission from the instructor is required to enroll. Tentative Show Date: May 30th.
