About this event
Instructor: Carl Fields is a retired Westinghouse and Savannah River Site engineer who has lived in Aiken since 1990. He has been a member of the CLL and its predecessor organization since around 2005, and he has taught six previous CLL courses, including an earlier course covering other portions of the 1985 trip. Description: This course, which includes many photographs, describes several things the instructor learned during a few days spent in Switzerland in 1985. The stop in Switzerland was part of a longer European tour. Topics include: “The Longest Tunnel in the World,” “Memories From a 4th Grade Geography Textbook,” “Camouflaged Fortifications,” and “Swiss Guards, a Dying Lion, and a Hidden Pig.” The course also includes a small amount of material on the “business” of European tourist hotels and bus-tour companies.
