About this event
Instructors: Ellen and Jeff DeGange met through their shared hobby of mountain biking and, after getting married, continued to pursue different types of cycling. They have found that their favorite way to travel has been through bike touring and continue to look forward to other areas of the country (and world) to travel. Jeff is a retired mechanical engineer from Savannah River National Lab, and Ellen is a retired elementary school teacher who worked in public and private schools in GA and SC. Description: The instructors will share their adventures traveling by bicycle on some of the cycling trails in the United States. They will take you to the Erie Canal in NY, the Greater Alleghany Passage and the C&O Towpath from Pittsburgh, PA to Washington DC, the Amish country, and Cuyahoga Valley on the OTET (Ohio to Erie Trail), the swamps and beaches on the FL Coast-to-Coast Trail, and the KATY Trail across the farm and wine countryside of Missouri. Come discover how bicycle travel connects us to people and places in ways that no other mode of travel can- at the right speed to enjoy landscapes off the beaten path and discover nature’s surprises.
