About this event
Instructors: Susan Potter and Pat Dunlop established the Butterfly Monarchy Club (BMC) in 2020. Susan is the President, and Pat is the VP. They were also responsible for starting the first and only chapter of the North American Butterfly Association in SC. Both have extensive knowledge in growing milkweed and raising monarchs and swallowtails. They have been instrumental in educating and bringing awareness to the importance of providing host and nectar plants to local garden clubs, civic organizations, etc. Description: This course will be presented by the Butterfly Monarchy Club (BMC) Board Members. The mission of the BMC is to encourage community involvement and education for the well-being and preservation of all butterflies, with special emphasis on monarchs. The BMC has joined the North American Butterfly Association and is the first and only SC Chapter of the organization. Information will be provided on attracting butterflies to your garden and what can be done to help save the monarchs. Live exhibits, including butterfly eggs, caterpillars, chrysalis, and butterflies, will be on display at the class. Students will be provided with informational handouts on SC native plants, which are host plants for butterflies and nectar plants for pollinators.
