About this event
Instructor: Laura Roden is a retired university professor who is fascinated by nature and food. Her hobbies include making wine vinegar, hot sauce, mustard, and a variety of jams, jellies and pickles, using natural ingredients, many of which she has foraged or cultivated herself right here in Aiken. Description: This two-session course will discuss a wide variety of foraged edibles that can be found growing wild in our community, from fruits to roots, leaves, berries and nuts (no mushrooms!) We’ll examine photos and details such as terrain and seasonality to help locate and identify edible items, and include several suggested preparations and recipes. We’ll also mention some of the prominent NON-edibles to watch out for. The content is arranged in alphabetical order by plant name, so even if you can only attend one session, you’ll get a lot of information and a copy of the full presentation.
