About this event
Instructor: Tonya A. Browder Guy graduated from North Augusta High School in 1988 and received a BA cum laude in History from the University of South Carolina at Aiken in 1992. She is currently the Director of the Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society library in Johnston, SC. Description: Edgefield County has a rich heritage that spans over 200 years. This series will explore this area, which is the “Gateway to Southern History.” Session 1: “Edgefield County History and Legacy.” Edgefield County is known for many attributes. We will explore this section of South Carolina, recognized for pottery, peaches, politics and more. Session 2: “Notable Burials.” Many notable individuals were produced in this county who helped shape the history of the state and nation. Session 3: “Murder and Mayhem.” Edgefield County has a fascinating, bloody past. We will explore some of the more bizarre incidents.
