Allegro! String Camp is a program presented by the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra for string students ages 8-18 in the Roanoke Valley. This day camp will take place July 7 - 12, at Hollins University, from 9 am - 4:30 pm. Students will receive a camp T-shirt, and one hot meal will be provided each day. Students will be immersed in small ensemble coaching and playing, music literacy, and strings techniques classes throughout the week. Students of all ability levels are welcome to join, as students will be grouped with others at the same level. This year, Allegro! String Camp will host a faculty recital on Thursday, July 10th at 4:30 pm and a student recital on Friday, July 11th at 4:30 pm. The camp will conclude with a final performance on Saturday at 11 am. All students and parents are encouraged to attend performances. In order to ensure that each student is placed into an educationally appropriate group, ALL CAMP ATTENDEES MUST SUBMIT A VIRTUAL PLACEMENT AUDITION. All registered students will be placed into a group regardless of audition quality. Placement audition videos should be submitted to virginia.willis@rso.com on or before May 15th, 2025. Please submit videos of the following: 1. 2-5 minute prepared solo of your choice. (Please choose a solo you feel best represents your current level of playing.) 2. Prepared scale of your choice
