The Suzuki program is based on the "mother tongue" teaching method of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. Beginners learn to play by ear, through listening and imitation. Parents provide support by attending lessons, helping their children to practice and playing recordings at home. Group lessons are an integral part of this program, helping to reinforce skills learned in private lessons. A huge factor in Suzuki students' success is parental encouragement, co-learning and modelling. To support students and foster their success, parents are encouraged to take notes and participate in group classes.
All Suzuki students are required to have the level-appropriate Suzuki book and accompanying CD. Daily listening familiarizes children with a pure and beautiful tone, as well as future repertoire. Students are encouraged to attend the same group class throughout the term, however, registered Suzuki students may drop-in to an alternate class section when necessary to accommodate missed classes.
This group class should be accompanied by 17 individual studio lessons, please contact our front desk for registration details.
Class begins on Saturday September 14th and will run for 16 weeks including a dress rehearsal and concert. Dates of the classes will be specified by the instructor.
