Description
Come hear about the 1948 flood of the company town on the Columbia River built for WWII ship building workers. The temporary nature of its construction and abnormal spring weather resulted in the demise of a community that had housed shipbuilders, veterans, and Vanport College.
Dr. Elizabeth Pruden is part of the Community Speakers Bureau, a group of dedicated volunteers from the Oregon Historical Society who give presentations about the history of Oregon. Their talks are interactive, educational, and always completely free!
