Putting Crime in its Place: Canadian Women Mystery Writers

St Paul's Cathedral • 360 Nicola st KamloopsBCCanada  V2C 2P5 Organized by Kamloops Adult Learners Society
This event has ended.

About this event

Crime writing is the most widely read form of popular narrative, and Canadian women writers are no slouches when it comes to their contributions to the genre. This course will address such questions as these: • What draws women writers to crime writing—and reading? • What are some features of the various crime/mystery sub-genres? • How does the Canadian landscape figure in the crime writing? • Is reading crime fiction still considered a guilty pleasure? Our readings will include short works available free online, and two novels, Beverley MvLachlin’s Denial and Iona Whishaw’s Lethal Lesson. The novels cost approximately $20 each; Ginny will bring them to our first class.
