About this event

Description

Internet registration is not available for this program. Please contact the office for program information.

Ikebana or the Japanese art of arranging flowers, has its origins in the native Japanese religion, Shinto. In Shinto, all natural things are respected because they are homes to spirits. Ikebana values discipline, the concept of peace, knowledge or rules and style, artistic insight, and an idealized approach to nature. It focuses on a wider and deeper understanding and respect for the nature of the materials used in Ikebana while attaching great importance to feelings and reason. The Sogetsu practitioner uses natural plant materials to create beauty using our own personalities and spirits.
