In this fun and creative course, students will learn the techniques for building a pop culture sculpture, similar to the Funko Pop style, using polymer clay. Polymer clay is a synthetic material that is clean, easy to use, and non-toxic. It stays soft until it is baked in a low-temperature oven, unlike natural clay which will dry out and needs to be fired in a high-temperature kiln. Throughout the course, students will learn how to design a sculpture based on their own creation or a pre-existing character, build an armature, make details using the polymer clay, and paint their final product. At the end, they’ll have their own cartoon character to bring home and display! Instructor: T. Luke
