Description
Safety and health combine in this educational self-defense setting. Develop situational awareness and improve muscle memory and reaction time, as you learn defense against a variety of attacks including grabs, chokes, strikes and knife defense. This training emphasizes fluid motion, joint locks, pressure points and falling safely. This class is suitable for adults and seniors looking to protect themselves and gain confidence in common dangers. Class emphasizes education and technique and is designed as a progressive workshop format, not a workout.This class will feature some basics of self-defense. We will learn to develop situational awareness, defense against a variety of attacks including grabs, chokes, knife defense and strikes. This training emphasizes fluid motion, joint locks, pressure points and falling safely.
Instructors: Tim and Karen O’Brien both carry 2nd Degree Black Belts in Hapkido, the Korean Art of Coordinated Power and are Y members who want to share their training with other Y members.
This 4-week series runs on Fridays at 2pm from October 4-25. FREE to members and $48 for non-members. Space is limited. Members registering must be able to commit to all 3 of the 4 class dates.
