Description

This 8-hour program does not replace the Lifesaving - Bronze Medallion course, it is designed to serve as a refresher of critical course skills and information. This course is intended for candidates who have already taken Bronze Medallion but did not pass the course.

Day 1: Review (4 hours)

Day 2: Review and Exam (4 hours)


Completion Criteria:

Attend and participate in 100 % of the course.

Successfully demonstrate competency in required skills, activities and final evaluation.


Pre-Course Requirements:

Age 13 (proof of age required)

Bronze Star (if under 13 years of age)

100% PARTICIPATION AND ATTENDANCE ARE REQUIRED

Lifesaving - Bronze Medallion awards are mailed to successful candidates by the Lifesaving Society.

Participants will be required to complete an endurance swim of 400 meters in 12 minutes for successful completion of this course.

Prerequisite: Participants must show one of the following prerequisites to the instructor at the first class:

* Bronze Star

* Age 13 (proof of age required)

Manuals required for the course (available at the pool): · Canadian Lifesaving Manual - approximate cost $ 50.40 · Bronze Medallion Workbook
The following items must be purchased in order to participate · 1 CPR pocket mask with a 1-way valve · 1 whistle (recommended Fox 40) · 6 pairs of latex-free gloves · 2 roller gauzes · 5 triangular bandages · 10 gauze pads · 1 golf pencil · 1 silver mylar blanket.You may choose to purchase a leadership kit ($37.96) containing these supplies at this facility or alternatively, you may purchase them on your own. The program includes classroom and water activities 100% attendance and participation are required.
