Description
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the Forest Preserve District's efforts to raise freshwater mussels and federally endangered Hine's emerald dragonflies. Then, meet some crayfish, insects and fish that call the county's waterways home. All ages; 12 and under with an adult. $5 per person. To register by phone instead, call 630-933-7248.
Use the main entrance off of Butterfield Road and follow the signs to the Urban Stream Research Center.
The inside of the lab is noisy (water pumps and aerators), has narrow corridors between tanks, and may have wet floors.
