Piedmont Wildlife Center is having its first Queer Camping trip! You're invited to join us at Falls Lake for nature-based games, a storytelling circle around the campfire, an explorative morning hike, and communal cooking experiences. We acknowledge that the outdoor space has historically not been inclusive of the queer community, and we want to cultivate a space where you feel safe to be who you are while connecting with nature. The Wilderness Society says that "Understanding and integrating the principles of queer ecology into our conservation efforts allows us to create more inclusive, just, and effective strategies for conserving public lands and waters while also curbing climate change by fostering biodiversity, promoting resilience, and empowering communities to actively participate in environmental stewardship. So, let's embrace the queer side of nature, celebrate its fabulousness, learn from it, and use that energy to create a more inclusive and sustainable world. " Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast or new to camping, we can't wait to explore, connect, and thrive with you at Falls Lake July 6-7 The tuition covers food and the campsite. You will need to bring your own camping gear. A week before the date, a packing list with instructions on how to get to the campsite will be sent out. We look forward to seeing you!
