Description
Youth Legislature provides teens in grades 8-12 the opportunity to become familiar with the legislative process, the art of debate, and public speaking, all in an accessible hybrid form! This non-partisan program is designed to give teens hands-on experience running a model state legislature. Alongside their peers, students will have the opportunity to study current issues, draft legislative bills, debate topics that are important to them, and assume the roles of various elected officials. The culmination of the program occurs in May, where teens participate in a statewide model legislative session. (A separate registration and fee are required to participate in the statewide session in Olympia). Learn more at https://www.seattleymca.org/yag.
