The City of Santa Monica is excited to bring you the American Red Cross blended learning lifeguard training course. This class is for participants 15 years and older who would like to become a certified Lifeguard. We will combine in depth online learning with detailed class instruction, demonstration and practice.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR for the professional rescuer, Oxygen Administration and Title 22 - First Aid for Public Safety Personnel.
Prerequisites:
- Must be 15 years old
- Able to Swim 150 yards non-stop using front crawl and breaststroke followed by 2 minutes of treading water followed by a 50-yard swim
- Able to retrieve 10 lb. weight from deep water and then swim 20 yards with the weight using legs only.
This is a blended learning course. All participants must have access to the internet. Students must attend all classes to pass this course, complete all online segments and turn in weekly progress reports. In addition, students must also pass all skills tests and score 80% or higher on all written exams.
Class meets on:
Friday August 30, from 4:30pm-7:30pm
Saturdays September 7 & 14, from 8:30am -5:30pm
Sundays September 8 & 15, from 8:30am - 5:30pm

Refund:
A $15.00 processing fee applies for each activity session refunded. Request must be made in writing to program supervisor in person or email : aquatics.mailbox@ santamonica.gov. Refunds will be issued only if requested within one business day after the first class meeting.
