Saucony Peregrine 16

Saucony Peregrine 16

The Saucony Peregrine 16 is a trail-running shoe designed for runners who crave speed and agility on technical terrain. Featuring PWRRUN cushioning for a responsive ride and a PWRTRAC outsole for exceptional grip, this shoe excels on rocky and muddy trails. The breathable upper ensures ventilation, while the rock plate provides added protection against sharp objects. Whether you're racing or exploring, the Peregrine 16 is built to handle the toughest trails.

One of Saucony's best shoes on the market. This is a go-to shoe for anyone hitting the trails on just about any distance.
Eric S. from Texas

First Impressions:

The Saucony Peregine feels really good right out of the box. It has pretty substantial lugs adding to the nice feel.

The Peregrine 16 shoe is comfortable and durable for outdoor adventures.

Things We Liked:

I like the light weight the Peregrine offers. The thicker lugs and tougher tread under my foot are great. The peregrine also offers some great color ways.

They are comfortable when on your feet for a long time.

Areas for Improvement:

The Peregrine runs slight narrow in the toe box. The shoe felt great wearing around the house and even for most of the run, however on a technical and rocky trail I noticed the inside of my big toe rubbing quite a bit after mile 14 or 15. I recommend a slightly more open toe box.

They feel slightly heavier than my other trail run shoes.

Final Thoughts

Saucony has continued to create a great shoe with the Peregrine 16. After wearing earlier iterations the shoe continues to be a lighter weight option with good protection on rocky trails. The Peregrine has a comfortable fit around the heel and forefoot with a nice light and breathable upper.

One thing to consider is going up 1/2 size if you're on the edge. While the overall length of the shoe feels adequate the width of the toe box could be an issue for some runners. The Peregrine 16 is a great all around option that will work for most runners in a 5k or as long as a 50K.

Michelle P from Texas

First Impressions:

Extremely cushiony right from the start. it checks all the boxes for comfort, responsiveness, and breathability. Felt like if you are someone who is on their feet all day this is your shoe.

Extremely cushiony with great bounce for comfort. Fit was great even for people with wider feet. Breathability was outstanding .

Things We Liked:

It would have to be the comfort. Could wear these all day and never feel uncomfortable

It has to be the superior foam cushion. Provides a steady base without being mushy.

Areas for Improvement:

Felt a little unstable when doing lunges due to the give in the cushion.

Nothing stands out.

Final Thoughts

These shoes have a high level of cushion without being soft of mushy. The outsole is thick but not heavy which will lend itself to durability. When wearing these shoes your feet have a high level of breathability.

Saucony Endorphin Azura

Saucony Endorphin Azura

The Saucony Endorphin Azura is a versatile running shoe that combines speed and comfort for a dynamic ride. Featuring PWRRUN cushioning for a responsive feel and a lightweight upper for breathability, this shoe is perfect for tempo runs and everyday training. The durable outsole ensures reliable grip, making the Endorphin Azura a great choice for runners who want to train fast and efficiently.

The Endorphin Azura is what happens when speed training grows up—fast when you want it, forgiving when you need it.
Elizabeth G. from Texas

First Impressions:

Out of the box, the Endorphin Azura feels like a modern performance trainer dressed in a daily trainer’s clothing. It’s lightweight for what it is, well-built, and immediately gives off a "this could do everything" vibe.

That is a heck of a lot of cushion and the speed roll is very pronounced

Things We Liked:

It nails the balance between cushioned comfort and energetic performance, making it a true one-shoe rotation contender.

The speed roll on this shoe makes it run like it has a plate in it, but has the non-plated price point. This is an awesome shoe!

Areas for Improvement:

It lacks the snappy, race-ready feel of plated shoes and can feel slightly less stable at times. But, that being said, it's a great non-plated shoe for the runner that doesn't NEED a plate in their shoe.

Sizing feels just a bit off. Felt like the middle of the shoe was trying to hit the transition spot between the arch of my foot and my heel.

Final Thoughts

The Saucony Endorphin Azura carves out a unique space in today’s crowded running shoe market by blending the feel of a high-performance trainer with the comfort of a daily cruiser—without relying on a carbon plate. Built with a full slab of PWRRUN PB foam and Saucony’s signature SpeedRoll geometry, the Endorphin Azura delivers a smooth, rolling ride that feels efficient at faster paces but surprisingly forgiving when you dial things back. It’s the kind of shoe that encourages you to pick up the pace without punishing you when you don’t.

What stands out most is its versatility. The midsole provides a lively, energetic bounce that makes tempo runs and long efforts feel easier to sustain, while still offering enough cushioning to keep legs feeling fresh deep into mileage. It doesn’t have the aggressive snap of a plated racer, but that’s by design—the Endorphin Azura is meant to bridge the gap between everyday training and performance running. For many runners, that means it can realistically handle everything from daily miles to long runs and even the occasional race effort.

That said, the trade-offs are noticeable. Without a plate, it lacks the sharp, propulsive edge of true super shoes, and its slightly heavier build keeps it from feeling lightning-fast during all-out efforts. Stability can also feel a bit loose at times, especially for runners who prefer a firmer or more structured ride. Still, for runners who don’t want the stiffness or specialization of a race-day shoe, the Azura hits a rare sweet spot.

  • Weight: 7.5 oz. (women); 8.5 oz. (men)

Our Comprehensive Testing Process

To bring you this guide, our expert team, comprised of seasoned runners and footwear specialists, conducted extensive testing on a wide array of shoes. We are committed to providing reliable and unbiased recommendations based on real-world performance.

Each pair of shoes was subjected to a minimum of 20 miles of running across varied terrains, from city pavements to park trails. Our testers meticulously evaluated each shoe based on a set of key criteria to ensure a thorough and balanced assessment.

Key Evaluation Criteria:

  • Comfort: We assessed the initial feel and long-run comfort, noting any pressure points or areas of discomfort.
  • Fit: Testers evaluated how the shoe conformed to the foot, including the security of the heel, the width of the toebox, and the overall lockdown.
  • Weight: We considered the physical weight of the shoe and how it felt during a run—whether it felt light and nimble or heavy and cumbersome.
  • Breathability: The upper materials were tested for airflow to determine how well they managed heat and moisture during a run.
  • Flexibility: We analyzed the shoe's flexibility in the forefoot and its overall ability to move naturally with the runner's stride.
  • Overall Ride: This is a comprehensive assessment of the shoe's performance. It includes the quality of the cushioning, the smoothness of the heel-to-toe transition, and the general feeling of the shoe in motion.
