The Joseph Lopez-Pratti Memorial 5K was started to memorialize a local fallen hero but has grown to an annual event that donates 100 percent of its profits to the DarkHorse Lodge.
The Dark Horse Lodge is a 5-guest cabin retreat center located in Paris, TN to all combat veterans to come for rest, fishing and restoration. The Dark Horse Lodge is a project started by the parents of LCpl Alec Catherwood, who also lost his life alongside Joey in the Sangin Province of Afghanistan on October 14th, 2010.
Joseph Lopez-Pratti grew up in Rosamond, California and enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps in 2009. On October 14th, 2010, Lance Corporal Lopez-Pratti was Killed in action while serving his tour of duty in the Sangin Province of Afghanistan.
This event is a family fun loving event that promotes health, wellness and most importantly remembrance.

Course information:
The course contains mostly side streets but veers off into desert terrain for a small portion. The uphill rugged portion is known as "Joey's Hill". Joey ran this very terrain to get ready for USMC bootcamp training.
Event Start Time:
Registration: 7:00 AM Rosamond High School,2925 Rosamond Blvd. Rosamond, CA 93560
Run/Walk begins at 8:00 AM at RHS, and ends at RHS, Pre-Event Ceremonies at 7:30 AM
Arrival info:
Please allow at least 30-45 minutes to register for this event.
Parking:
RHS has plenty of parking, park anywhere inside the designated school parking area.
Waivers and ID:
Please bring the authorized waiver provided by active.com, and a form of ID for credit or debit purchases.
What to Wear/Bring:
Please wear appropriate running shoes and attire for running.
