This course will cover the practical application of using a handgun for self defense along with covering how to stop blood loss from major trauma such as a gun shot wound. The medical training will cover application of pressure dressings and wound packing, chest seals, and tourniquets. We will review different tourniquet options and their pros and cons. We will integrate the use of these items with our firearms. The firearms training will consist of some practical shooting drills ensuring the student is proficient with their handgun and holster setup. Then you will be coached in using your handgun one handed using the left and right hand. This will include the draw and the fundamentals of shooting for self defense. I have twenty plus years instructing professionals and civilians in the use of firearms. I have specialized in the self-defense use and recreational use of firearms. I have carried a handgun since I was eighteen years old and I carried firearms as a police officer for twenty one years. I have thousands of hours instructing police, civilians, and military folks. I also have hundreds of hours as a student. This course is not designed for someone who does not know how to use a holster. If you don’t know how to properly draw your firearm and put it back in the holster attend one of my courses or take a private lesson with me which will cover that topic. You should have proficient shooting skills. The Stop the Bleed portion will take place in the classroom at Trigger Finger Tactical Inc. and then we will move to a private range. Required Gear: - Handgun - 4 Magazines or speed loaders - 300 rounds of Ammunition - Belt mounted holster or off body carry rig. - Ear protection - electronic preferred - Eye protection - Note taking material - A positive attitude - Water - clothing appropriate for weather - chair - lunch - lunch is available off site but requires ample drive time. - 5 pair latex gloves Bring your IFAK for evaluation.
