39 - 05. THE ULTIMATE TEMPRANILLO TASTING (Friday, June 7) Tempranillo is the best grape of Spain and Rioja reds established the benchmark for this variety for over a century. Then Ribera del Duero burst into the spotlight with majestic, age-worthy, tannic yet silky wines. In the last twenty-five years, the new Toro wines have stormed into the market with opulent and powerful reds. Along with them, a small group of wines made outside of these appellations are also reaching similar or even superior quality. In this seminar we will blind taste wines from these regions to compare and evaluate their styles.
