About this event
In this atelier, students will learn Shotokan Karate a Japanese style of Karate, which is the most popular style of Karate world-wide. The martial art has many benefits, including exercise for the entire body, development of total coordination of all 4 limbs, improved concentration, improved listening skills, improved study skills, respect for others, proper manners, self-confidence, self-discipline, awareness of surroundings, and self-defense. Classes consist of Kihon (basics), Kata (pre-arranged traditional forms), and Yakusoku Kumite (basic pre-arranged sparring, only after having acquired proficiency in Kihon and Kata). Students are highly recommended to attend classes regularly for consistent progress. All classes will be conducted and taught in the traditional Japanese Karate manner, and will require a white Karate uniform (dogi).
