About this event
This class will explore how sculpture can convey mood and suggest a story. With an emphasis on the figure, students will build sculptures that create a narrative through gesture, emotion, and symbolic objects. We will explore poses and incorporating elements such as animals or botanicals to enhance storylines that can be real, fiction, or both. You do not need to have a specific story or sculpture idea ready. During the first class there will be a presentation and discussion about narrative sculpture and metaphor and time to sketch and consult about ideas. Everyone will receive individual support to bring their vision to life. Students will learn to construct clay sculptures and how to build meaning through metaphoric objects. Clay sculptures will be fired.
