Free to enter, free to taste, and hot prizes for the best chili. To celebrate “National Chili Day,” bring a crockpot full of your favorite chili. Toppings, crackers, and beverages provided.Guidelines for attendees and contenders:
- Each entry must be created by the individual.
- As this is a cooked-food event everyone will need to sign a medical release form provided at the cook-off.
- Chili contenders may arrive at the location by 10:30 a.m. Tasters only may begin arriving at 11:00 a.m.
- Contestants must prepare between 3-5 quarts of chili.
- All ingredients are okay to use, no restrictions. If you are using ingredients people may be allergic to, please post them on a sign at your station.
- Each entry must be fully cooked, hot, and delivered in a crockpot.
- Condiments such as oyster crackers, shredded cheese, tortilla chips, diced onions, and sour cream will be provided. Do not bring additional specialty condiments such as cornbread, rice, or noodles.
- Participants are encouraged to name their chili and provide copies of their recipe.
- Judging will be done by both outside judges and all attendees.
- Prizes to be awarded in the following categories:
- Judges' Choice
- People’s Choice (Best Overall Chili)
- There’ll “Beano” Relief Here (Best Use of Beans)
- Not Your Mother’s Chili (Most Unique or Unusual)
- Fire in the Hole! (Spiciest Chili)
