Twined basketry is perhaps one of the oldest forms of woven art there is. People have been harvesting fibers and turning them into both beautiful and functional baskets for millennia. Come learn this ancient art of harvesting, processing and weaving fibers from our local environment into a basket you can use and cherish for a lifetime. Open to all skill levels! This program will be in depth and require 10+ hours of homework in between each session. In this program we will learn: - Identification of local plants and trees - Proper harvesting techniques and timing - Making twine from local plants - Dying fibers with natural dyes - Weaving technique - Design work - Finish work - Putting them to use 3 Weekends: April 26-27 June 7-8 July 12-13 Time: Saturday 9am-4pm Sunday 9am-4pm Location: Montague, MA
