ARE YOU READY FOR A NEW CHALLENGE????
There will be navigation, trekking (running or hiking), mountain biking (no water course due to cold water temps) There may also be surprise challenges for ALL courses. The team that completes all the checkpoints (or more than other teams) with the fastest time will win the race.
No checkpoints are mandatory, meaning your team can complete as much (or as little) of the course as you can, and still get an official finish!
Both courses you will have access ONLY to the gear, food and drink that you have on your bike or in your pack. Checkpoints for the Break UP Course will be on Topographic maps. The maps are pre-plotted topographic maps from mytopo.com. Your team will need a basic understanding of terrain features and distance measure. There will be very few rules of travel, teams will choose their own route/strategy (with mode of travel specified for checkpoints).
Event details and schedule
The 6 Hour course will be approximately 25 miles on the bike, 5-8 miles on foot! (no paddling section this year!) This is the PERFECT course for newbies and veterans alike! This course will have an "urban" race feel while racing through the beautiful city of Manhattan! The 12 hour course will be 45 miles on bike, 10-12 miles on foot. Both routes will include biking on asphault, and gravel, and singletrack. Running will be all types of terrain. This course will be a CHALLENGE FOR ALL RACERS! Registration INCLUDES: Race day insurance, maps, swag item (TBA), post race snacks or meal, finish line prize. Awards for teams/solos in 1st, 2nd, 3rd of divisions. (Divisions are: SOLO (male and female) 2 PERSON TEAMS (female, male, coed) 3/4 PERSON TEAMS ( female, male, coed) for all courses! BOTH COURSES WILL RECIEVE POINTS FOR USARA RANKINGS!
