Search, Rescue & Detection K9s (SRD K9s) is a volunteer organization whose core function is the ongoing search for missing persons in BC. All of their working K9s and their handlers are trained and held to the highest standards. Searches for missing persons conducted with individuals are labour intensive and limited in the amount of area that can be explored during the search hours. Dogs with their superior scent ability and training can easily cover more ground in less time and are more thorough as they follow the unique scent left by the individual. Mike and his dog, Ranger, will show us how these dogs are trained and how they are able to find articles left behind, do live finds, and also detect human remains and drugs. This demonstration will be taking place outdoors so weather appropriate clothing and footwear is required. Driving instructions to the demonstration site will be emailed to participants closer to the date.
