About this event
In this dynamic and engaging class, students will dive into the world of board and trading card games, exploring the strategies and mechanics that make them fun and challenging. Playing and learning about games you may be familiar with like Monopoly or Pokemon or learning about a whole new game like Settlers of Catan, students will learn the rules and tactics of a wide variety of games. Throughout the course, students will analyze game mechanics, understand and learn strategy, and explore how game design impacts player experience. They will also have the opportunity to play these games, honing their skills and developing strategies to outsmart their opponents. The culmination of the class will be a creative project where students design their own board or trading card game. They will brainstorm unique game concepts, create rules and game pieces, and playtest their creations with classmates, providing and receiving feedback to refine their designs. By the end of the class, students will not only have a deeper appreciation for the art of game design and strategy but also a tangible game prototype they can share and play with others.
