Functional age is a concept that a measure other than chronological age could better reflect one's position in the aging process. The role with this training group is to introduce and practice all areas of functional training together exploring your individual strengths and areas to improve in order to increase physical function for your day-to-day lifestyle and individual goals. We will develop regular and progressive practices:
- Neuromuscular function - reaction time, proprioception, motor control, coordination.
- Musculoskeletal - strength, power, joint integrity, endurance.
- Cognitive function- processing, memory, attention mobility- sit to stand, walking gait, agility, obstacle negotiation.
- Balance- multisensory, postural, center of gravity control, vestibular integrity.
- Cardiorespiratory- anaerobic, aerobic.
If you have not attended a Fitness Specialty Program, Orientation or Personal Training session in the last 2 years, please complete the attached form and email it to fitness@ighmn.gov prior to the first day of class or if you prefer you may complete a paper copy at class.
