Description
Visit the LeDuc Historic Estate. Hear the history of the Le Duc Family and some tales about manifestations of spiritual visitors. This 15-room mansion stands as a rare monument of unaltered Gothic Revival architecture. It features a picturesque tower, a limestone exterior and 20-inch-thick walls, a prominent front porch, chimneys for 10 fireplaces and a third-floor chapel with a white pine interior. Tour both the first and second floor - there is not an elevator. Those who want to go outside can visit the Carriage Barn and Simmons Shed with exhibits on display. Luncheon Menu: Chicken Salad on a Croissant, a Fruit Salad, Vegetable, Dessert, Water, Tea, or Coffee. Tour St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. It is the fifth oldest church in the diocese and was organized as a mission in 1850 and was the only church in town that permitted Native and African Americans to their worship services. Church pews, built of butternut wood, were installed in 1867, and are still used today. Two small matching pews are found in the chapel of the LeDuc Mansion. Arrive Alexis Bailly Vineyard to taste and purchase wine. In 1973, the family planted the first vineyard in Minnesota with a pioneering spirit that has brought them unlikely fame in the wine drinking world.Tuesday, October 29Depart VMCC: 10 a.m. Return: 4 p.m.Fee: $92Register by: Friday, September 7
