Description
This NEW tour highlights the Italian-inspired treasures around Los Angeles and emphasizes the positive influences that Italian culture has had on architecture, fashion, art, food, and cinema. Start your day at Pasadena City Hall, an iconic and architecturally significant landmark that pays homage to the 16th-Century Italian architect Andrea Palladio. You do not have to travel to Italy to view the works of the great Renaissance Masters, but rather visit St. Andrew’s Church, an architectural treasure that dates to 1886. Visit Italian Hall – the oldest remaining building from LA’s historic Little Italy – to explore the Italian American Museum’s interactive cultural and historical displays that highlight the significance that Italians have had in the region. At Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, view reproductions of Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Last Supper in the form of an enormous stained glass mural, and reproductions of Michelangelo’s most famous sculptures. Enjoy lunch on your own at the San Antonio Winery, a hidden gem of the city for more than 100 years. Stop at Roma Market in Pasadena, a premier destination for specialty Italian food products, offering more than 30 kinds of pasta, authentic panettone, prosciutto from the mountainous region of San Daniele del Friuli, and the signature Italian sandwich, a “secret recipe” that includes mortadella, capicola, salami, and provolone. As part of the tour, you will be able to take this delicious sandwich home with you!
