Description
LARGE SCALE ATMOSPHERIC FLOW PATTERNS AND MOISTURE SOURCESLearn about our different weather patterns in 3 seperate classes. Each class is focused on a specific weather pattern. Class is instructed by Portland Meteorologist and CCC Faculty member in the Fire Science Dept, John Saltenberger.
This lesson will describe the large scale air circulations around the globe, including the jet stream, large scale pressure pattern circulations, weather fronts, and movement of moisture. How all of these can affect weather across different geographic regions will be illustrated. Particular emphasis will be placed on wind patterns and moisture movement for the west coast of North America. Free demonstration software for PCs for experimentation with winds and pressure patterns will be distributed to students. Weather websites with wind animations will be provided.
