About this event
Three IN-PERSON Sessions September 19, 26, October 3 This three-week course will create discussion surrounding recent protests on college campuses and how these events are repeated in our nation's past and affect its future. The first week will present the clashes at public and private campuses this spring and show how they have more to do with campus politics than foreign affairs. The second week will focus on the past, using the audience’s nostalgia for their college years to discuss higher education’s protest culture and affect on public opinion. The third week will discuss what role the recent protests will have on that public opinion and the future of higher education. Matthew Boedy is a professor of rhetoric and composition at the University of North Georgia. He is also the president of the Georgia conference of the American Association of University Professors. He has written about higher education in the AJC and other publications. He lives in Gainesville with his wife and daughters.
