About this event
ENVIRONMENTAL Staff advisor: Illona Covert Email: ilona.covert@basisindependent.com Student Advisor: Romil Bhatt Dates: Wednesday with the first meeting on 9/11 and the last meeting on 4/30 Time: 4:15 PM–5:15 PM Grades: 6–12 Cost: $300 Description: The BIF Environmental Club provides opportunities to become an advocate for the environment in the ongoing fight against climate change. The BIF Environmental Club is a volunteer and service oriented club. Members in this club will learn about environmental problems and ways in which these problems can be tackled. We as a club will decide on projects for our school, the local community, and partner with local organizations. Our past school projects include: Tote Bag Painting Event, 1st and 2nd Annual Earth Day Environmental Fair to promote sustainability on our campus, Vegan Food Fair, Pumpkin Patch with Student Panel, Sustainable Ornament Making, and Recycled with Love (Recycled Items for Valentine’s Day Goodies). Future projects will involve hands-on experiences like organizing a coastal cleanup and nature walks, and continuing work on our Green Space consisting of: a greenhouse, a wildflower meadow, and bee houses. Other projects may include educational awareness where we plan school-wide events with leading experts in this ield. Combating climate change is a crucial necessity for our generation and this club will provide the opportunity to advocate and be an environmental leader in a fun, interactive and impactful way.
