.MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL CHESS Adult advisor: Archana Gupta Email: archana@gmail.com Student Advisor: Rishi, Henry Dates: Friday with the first meeting on 10/11 and the last meeting on 2/28 Time: 4:05 PM–5:05 PM Grades: 6–12 Cost: $100 Description: Chess is a proven way to improve cognitive abilities such as concentration, pattern recognition, decisionmaking, algebraic and geometric thinking, problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and memory capacity. Furthermore, it boosts children’s self-esteem and self-worth while increasing their attention span, which is essential in today’s digital world. The chess club at Basis creates a community where students can play, make friends across all grades, participate in tournaments, and develop long-term friendships.
