Description
This weekly class taught by seasoned professionals with Franklin Light Opera will nurture the musical talents of teens, focusing on the unique vocal demands of light opera and classic musical theatre. From vocal exercises to song interpretation, participants will develop valuable classical singing skills which they will then use to delve into a delightful selection of light opera excerpts including comedic works by Gilbert & Sullivan, Strauss, Offenbach and more. They will learn stagecraft, acting techniques, and teamwork as they collaborate with their classmates in group numbers and ensemble scenes. The workshop will culminate in a performance to showcase their talents and share the joy of light opera with family and friends. No previous experience in opera is required, all are welcome! In addition, participants may have the opportunity to be a part of a pre-show or role in future Franklin Light Opera productions.Showcase performance on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 7pm at the College Grove Artsitorium (Dress rehearsal on Thursday, April 24.)
