About this event
Calling all young engineers and innovators! Get ready to immerse yourself in hands-on activities designed to expand your interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). A team of experts from Richland Community College and Illinois State University will lead you through a fun-filled day of learning. In the morning, you’ll spend some time building a functioning lie detector using a microcontroller and aluminum foil. Then after lunch, you’ll create a “Smart backpack” that can sense an intruder approaching from 5 feet away. At the end of the day, you’ll get to take home the projects you’ve created and a list of other ideas to try at home. Lunch and everything you need to create the projects will be provided.
