Description
What is suicide and how does it affect those living in our communities here in Culpeper and beyond? We all play a role in suicide prevention! Join us for an educational & engaging session, aimed at providing current information & best practices in prevention, in a safe space while expanding the conversation about suicide prevention initiatives.This workshop is open to the public and is especially beneficial to behavioral health professionals, students, educators, first responders, counseling and nursing professionals, family members and anyone who has been affected by various issues surrounding suicide.
Meet your host, Wendy Bundy, Zero Suicide Coordinator for Encompass Community Supports (formerly known as Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services). She will share her role as Zero Suicide Coordinator and the experiences Encompass Community Supports has encountered after implementing the Zero Suicide Framework.
She'll walk you through topics that cover the prevalence of suicide in our community and throughout various occupations, as well as high-risk populations and risk vs. protective factors for individuals.
Learning Objectives:
• Participants will learn the stats on suicide in the Culpeper area.• Participants will become familiar with the Zero Suicide Framework.• Participants will learn about additional trainings available on this topic.• Participants will gain tools to start the conversation about suicide in the workplace & community.
Tools and resources will be provided on how to start and normalize conversations around suicide in the workplace & community. Handouts will be provided and lessons ECS has learned through the guidance of others throughout their own Zero Suicide implementation.
The workshop will end with a game of trivia, reviewing topics from the workshop. Registration includes a light breakfast, coffee, juice, and water.
This program is fully funded by both Encompass Community Supports as well as the Virginia Cooperative Extension.
