Would you like to become an Amateur Radio Operator?
Before you can operate a ham radio station, you need to pass an exam that shows you have the basic knowledge to operate responsibly and safely.
One of the big reasons why so many people love ham radio is because it is the most powerful and longest range radio service available to the general public, once you get a license. Over 700,000 people in the US alone practice, simply using a battery, radio, antenna, and a little knowledge, to communicate around the world without your cell phone or an internet connection.
You must pre-register for your spot, easily online or in-person. We welcome your participation in advance or on exam day. Either way, check-in is required at the front desk to complete the registration process. Fees are minimal and can be paid at that time.
NOTE: This program is for Amateur Radio License Testing. Your exam will be evaluated onsite, and you will receive your licensing credentials shortly thereafter.
You can learn more about the license exam and how to prepare for it at Getting Licensed (arrl.org). CARA is also happy to answer questions and help you get started at CARA – Culpeper Amateur Radio Association (w4cul.org).
Please sign in when you arrive, at the Front Desk. If you have not pre-registered, you will need to pay at that time before class.
