SwimAbilities is a specialized 4-level swimming program designed by the Lifesaving Society for children and youth with varying physical, mental, or emotional disabilities. This program offers a structured and supportive environment where swimming skills are broken down into smaller, manageable steps with clear progressions to help ensure success. This specialized program is designed for children who require additional attention and support in the water. SwimAbilities emphasizes a slower pace, visual aids, individualized modifications, and more one-on-one assistance than our standard group swimming lessons offer.
A parent, caregiver, or aide is required to be in the water with each participant during every lesson, who will assist in enforcing water safety practices, foster a safe and engaging learning experience and provide supervision when the instructors are working with other participants. Instructors work closely with participants and their caregivers, helping participants build confidence, develop water safety skills, and work towards greater independence while enjoying the water.
Before the first lesson, parents/caregivers will receive a questionnaire via email to share important details about the participant’s needs, learning style, and safety considerations. On the first day, participants will complete a brief swim evaluation to ensure the mini-groups that are formed prior to the first class best match participant needs and abilities.
CANCELLATIONS
Vecova strives to give 5-7 days prior to the start of a program, notice of cancellation. Full refunds will be given or the opportunity to transfer to another program (space permitting).
TRANSFERS
All program transfers are subject to availability and a transaction fee.
WITHDRAWALS
All withdrawals must be made a minimum of 7 days prior to the start of a program. Prior to 7 days a credit minus a transaction fee of $2.00 per program will be placed on your Vecova account for future use. Refund requests made prior to 7 days to program start date will be subject to a $25.00 administration fee. Refunds will not be given if cancelled within 7 days of program start date or after the program has started.
PHOTOGRAPHY
To protect everyone's privacy, cell phones, cameras and other forms of communication devices are not permitted in the changerooms.
Photos may be taken of your children while in a program. A Vecova employee has the right to view the photo to ensure the privacy of others.
