Painting: Fundamentals of Watercolor / Introduction
Instructor: Diane Roach Smith
Watercolor is a beautiful media to study! This introductory class is perfect for people who want to learn to paint with watercolor. If you have played with watercolor (or not) and want to learn more about it from a watercolor artist / instructor, this class is for you.
Through exercises, instructor demonstrations, and projects, students will learn about:
• Color Mixing and Color Theory:
(related assignments and demos will be taught)
• Various subject matter for painting ideas.
• The cycle of creating a watercolor painting
from beginning to end.
All lessons will be taught using Professional Watercolor Tube Paints and Professional Paper. Paint and Paper will be provided. There is a supply list for the rest of things needed for class. Students are required to bring all materials.
A class field trip may take place during the semester for one class meeting date.

You will need a few Brushes, Simply Simmons are a reasonable Watercolor Brush. The have a white handle.#6 Round#10 Round½" flat#2 PencilKneaded eraserExtra fine sharpie markerRulerContainer for (painting) waterTable coveringSmall mixing palette Round; I can have some of these for you to buy. I get them in bulk.
This can wait until we are in class:Palette to put the tube paints you will be getting. I will have some for sale in class. You can see them and decide what you want to use.
