Painting: Abstract Landscape - Feeling Into Your Surroundings
Instructor: Sheri Lee Robinson
Look around you.. what do you see? A beautiful body of water? A luscious meadow? A bustling or still city? It’s very satisfying to snap a photo of our
surroundings when they inspire us to do so. The moment is held in time with our photo and our memory becomes filled with the details of that day. But how did that scene FEEL? What emotions came up as you took in your surroundings? In this new and exciting course, we will dive into the abstract (and impressionistic) side of the ubiquitous landscape painting. Together, we will explore and learn how to paint and draw scenes that inspire us using the unique, emotional language of abstract painting on canvas and on paper. But we won’t stop at the landscape…you will also explore creating seascapes, lakescapes, and cityscapes all using the language of abstraction. The history and icons of the abstract landscape, seascape and cityscape will be discussed and presented in a slideshow and I will create alongside you and guide you through this satisfying process. Get ready to make a LOT of art and have some fun! See you in the studio!
